Active Travel to School Day
Friday 29th April 2016

Our Travel Choice event this term is an active travel to school Day. It is nearly here and we are really looking forward to this event. It is another way to promote community participation and encourage more sustainable and healthy ways to travel to and from school.

Please find details of our active travel to school event:
Upon arrival at school if you have wheeled, walked, scootered school you will receive stickers and go in the raffle for prizes that have been provided by Moreton Bay Regional Council.

Once you have entered the school you are welcome to go to the large covered area where you can receive a fruit juice which has been generously donated by Clontarf Beach State School P&C.

This event is for our school community to come together to promote healthy lifestyles and the environmental benefits of travelling to school in a ‘Fitter, Greener and Smarter’ way. We encourage all students and their families to join us for this Travel Choice event day.

The objectives of Active Travel To School Day are:
To encourage parents and carers to walk, cycle, scooter or skateboard to school with primary school-aged children and reinforce safe wheeling behaviour.
To promote the health benefits of wheeling and create regular active and healthy travel habits at an early age.
To ensure that children understand what road signs mean.
To help children develop the vital road-crossing skills they will need as they become mature adults.
To reduce the car dependency habits that are being created at an early age.
To reduce the pollution caused by single occupancy vehicles.
To reduce the level of traffic congestion in school communities.

IN THE EVENT OF RAIN, THIS EVENT WILL STILL GO AHEAD - REMEMBER TO BRING UMBRELLAS AND RAIN COATS. WE WILL POSTPONE THE EVENT IF THE WEATHER INVOLVES HEAVY RAIN AND EXCESSIVE WIND.

Check the Clontarf Beach State School Facebook or skoolbag on the morning of the event for any event updates. If you have any questions or queries, please contact Ross Osborne.
